Guyana Trains Over 100 Field Workers to Conduct Ivermectin, Pyrimethamine and Albendazole (IDA) Exposure Studies

The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Task Force on Global Health (TFGH), in collaboration with the Department of Health (MoH), conducted a week-long on-site training in preparation for ivermectin, diethylcarbamazine and albendazole (IDA) (IIS) exposure study scheduled for 2023. The survey is intended to confirm that lymphatic filariasis (LF) infection has decreased to a level where it can no longer be considered a public health problem in Guyana and will continue with other key activities to demonstrate the eradication of the disease in the country.
